Event Details
Take a step back into the world of The Andy Griffith Show and discover what Mayberry reveals about American life in the mid-20th-century South. We'll explore how the show’s humor, nostalgia and sense of community reflected (and sometimes avoided) the social realities of its time.
Through the lens of NC history, we'll examine how the show captured both the hopes and contradictions of small-town America and consider how its legacy continues to shape our understanding of Southern identity today. Participants will view and discuss two classic episodes, Citizen’s Arrest and Man in a Hurry, using them as a springboard for conversation about race, memory and the enduring myth of Mayberry.
