Mystery Book Club: Velvet Was the Night

In 1970s Mexico, Maite, a secretary obsessed with romance comics, becomes embroiled in a dangerous search for her missing neighbor, Leonora, an art student with ties to student radicals and dissidents. As Maite delves into Leonora's secret life, she crosses paths with Elvis, a rock 'n' roll enthusiast also searching for Leonora. Their parallel quests expose them to a world of hitmen, government agents and Russian spies.
